THE CHALLENGE
Small, resident-owned, and disadvantaged certified business enterprises (CBEs) in Washington DC face challenges with pursuing contracting opportunities with DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) and similar “green” or environmentally sustainable opportunities. DSLBD sought CBEs to provide direct marketing services and training on areas that would strengthen CBE preparedness and competitiveness for green energy-related procurement opportunities.
THE SOLUTION
Created a marketing program, DC Goes Green, aimed at aiding CBEs in procuring green energy contracts. The project involved developing a new brand, website development, email marketing, course development, marketing consulting with individual small business owners, and creating over 80 pieces of marketing collateral for small businesses, including logos, websites, print (flyers, brochures, door hangers), and digital marketing. Surpassed the CBE participation goal by an impressive 247%.
