THE CHALLENGE

Returning Citizens and other justice-involved individuals who aim to start businesses face significant barriers, including limited access to professional marketing services. The Coming Home Cooperative, funded by the DC Department of Small & Local Business Development (DSLBD), was launched to provide these aspiring entrepreneurs with the resources and support they need to thrive.

OUR SOLUTION

Market Me Consulting was engaged to support the Coming Home Cooperative by helping to:

  • Recruit Members: We implemented strategies to attract participants to the cooperative.

  • Marketing Education: We led foundational courses, including a "Marketing 101" class, teaching essential skills to develop effective, targeted strategies for business success.

  • Brand Development: For each business, spanning industries such as environmental conservation, transportation, food services, and more, we created unique visual identities and custom graphic design. This included logos, websites, social media graphics, and various print collateral.

  • 1:1 Consulting: Provided personalized marketing consultations, offering strategic advice on navigating business challenges and opportunities.

RESULTS

Our efforts raised the visibility of the Coming Home Cooperative and enhanced the marketing strategies of 14 participating small businesses. Each business saw an increase in brand awareness, engagement with target audiences, and the confidence to expand their entrepreneurial efforts.
